 The Kite School, established in 2000 is the first to operate in Central America. Now located on Playa Papaturro in Bahia Salinas, this sunny and dry spot is perfect for kite surfing.
Playa Papaturro offers:
- a 2 km beach without "shore break" waves
- accommodation only 250 mts. away from the kite beach at the Blue Dream Hotel
- no people or boats in the area to worry about
- fairly flat water, only choppy with more then 20 knots
- wind is completely Side Shore which is very friendly and safe for kite surfers

Enjoy the beauties of this country and learn kitesurfing SAFELY! If you have never kitesurfed before, a beginners course is highly recommended!
Certified instructors will teach you what and what not to do until you're able to do the water starts. After this, a couple of days of private lessons will help you gain confidence in your skills. After about 12 hours of lessons (8 hours at beginners level and 4 hours at intermediate level), you'll be able to enjoy this sport to the fullest! It's recommended to spend 5 or 6 days learning to kite surf to get the most out of the experience.
- 1st lesson (land lesson): $100 (3-4 hours, depending on the number of people, 4 people max)
Control of a trainer kite on the beach (understanding the wind, take off, landing, flight technique, basic steering, simulation of water starts and getting going).
- 2nd lesson (body dragging): $ 70 (2 hours, 2 people max)
Flight techniques in the water with 4 and 5 lines inflatable kites (launching and landing the kite, body dragging with instructor, body dragging alone (from this moment the instructor will be in contact with the students through a walkie talkie), control of the kite with one hand, safety, kite water launch, self rescue, discussion about the equipment.
- 3rd lesson (water start): $70 (2 hours, 2 people max) approach to the board, demo of the water start by the instructor, water start, discussion about sailing. Start and return with the board in linear sailing, discussion about wave sailing, jibing and jumping techniques.
- Beginner kiter after the course or intermediate kiters who wish to further their skills: the instructors will help students set realistic goals and achieve them, using walkie talkies to communicate.
$45 per hour (min. 2 hours) private lessons.
The school will supply the following equipment during courses: 4 and 5 lines inflatable kites - bi-directional (twin tip) kiteboards - life jacket - harness - helmet - walkie talkies.
